Professional Background
I’m Adam Specjal, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I’ve been providing mental health services since 2007. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a crisis counselor at a non-profit mental health center.
In 2009, I completed my Masters of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Illinois. Prior to college, I served in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division as an enlisted paratrooper. My time and struggles in the service drew me to working with veterans. After graduate school, I began working at the VA’s Vet Center program, providing individual and group psychotherapy services to combat veterans of various wars, including WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
After years of living in cold climates, I was ready for a change and moved to Savannah, GA. There, I worked at Hunter Army Airfield as the primary civilian therapist for the elite Army Special Operations Forces (SOF).
While working for the Army, I also maintained a private practice where I treated a diverse clientele, including local artists, creatives, college students, professionals, and executives.
Now, I own and operate my own solo practice, a decision driven by my passion for providing personalized, expert care—a commitment that became increasingly difficult within the constraints of government bureaucracy and managed care.
